Databases: Ancestry.com Library Edition is available in the library only, during library hours.
Newspapers on microfilm: Microfilm of local newspapers from the 1920's to the 1990's are stored at the Main branch and are available for checkout (the library currently does not have a microfilm machine). Obituary indexes for those newspapers, as well as city directories from 1959 to the 1990's are available at the Train Depot Museum, at 70 Russell Street in downtown Brooksville. Call 352-799-4766 or 799-0129.
Reference books for genealogy: Most of the genealogy materials are shelved at the Main branch. Subjects include Florida and the southeast, Civil War veterans, Mayflower and colonial era genealogies, immigrant records, and genealogy handbooks and guides. Materials not available in our collection may be available from outside the county via inter-library loan.
Research assistance: Library staff are available at all branches to assist with finding genealogy resources.
Blog: The Genealogy @ Your Library blog can be found on the library's homepage- just click on "catalog" on the left side of the page, and then look for the link on the page that follows. The blog is updated regularly and includes links to genealogy news, articles, and websites.
